WhatsApp has been offering users the option to backup their messages, photos and videos for a long time. But how do you Backup WhatsApp exactly? Backupdiy shows you how it works.
Backup WhatsApp on Android
With WhatsApp it is possible to make a backup of important data. Very handy, because that way your messages, photos and videos are kept when you switch to a new phone for example. Instead of losing everything, after the installation of WhatsApp you can tap a button to put everything back in one go.
Making a WhatsApp backup is fairly simple, although you have to go through a number of steps. Below we show you how it works on Android. The function is available on most Android devices. You also need enough storage space to backup Whatsapp.
In the screen you see a number of settings. You can choose how often a backup should be made, where you have the choice of daily, weekly, monthly, never, or only when you tap the Backup button. You can also tick that videos are added to the backup.
Backup WhatsApp on iPhone
It is also possible on iOS to make a backup of WhatsApp. However, this does not happen in Google Drive, but in iCloud. The backup function works automatically and is just as easy as on Android.
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap Settings at the bottom;
- Choose Chats and Backup, after which you will see the button to make a backup of your WhatsApp data.
It is more convenient to have WhatsApp automatically make a backup. Tap on Automatic backup, after which you can choose from daily, weekly or monthly. Incidentally, videos are not included in the backup as standard because they take up more space than photos and messages. However, there is a switch with which you can indicate that WhatsApp movies are stored in iCloud.
